The beauty of Black with hints of grey was a chic phenomenon that encompassed me as I watched the new RAD by Rad Hourani 2011 Fall Collection. The experience was indeed a reprieve from traditional presentations and asked each viewer to embrace the beauty of unisex aesthetic. I knew that most people would walk away with references to futurist and the likes. However, what Rad Hourani has done with this collection exemplifies ‘the now’ by draping his fabric to add spark to the edginess of the designs.
The fabrics included both boiled and flannel wool, jersey, crepe, with accents of PVC to a modish staging that paired 26 looks. They included paneled pants, pocketed chemise and jackets styled to suggest the flexibility of how the clothes could work for the stylish, the unique or the everyday. In fact, the collaboration with Aldo and the chunky heeled boot were spectacular.
RAD by Rad Hourani has left an indelible imprint this season. What I enjoyed most was the ease of making the simple epic. The show allowed us to escape the molds that have confined us all. This collection said let’s embrace life fashionably in the beauty of black.
