While
Legendary Drag Queen, DJ Bunny played funky beats and kept the energy of the room on high volume as she danced around the turntables. Vegan hors d’œuvres were passed around by friendly waitstaff and wine and champagne was served all night. Reality stars Lo Bosworth and Stephanie Pratt made an appearance and french actress Liliane Montevecchi made an entrance radiating her classic look of Hollywood glamour. Other celebrities supporting the night at Peta’s event was rock star Joan Jett and fashion designer Todd Oldham.
It was a great party and though the music, food and drinks were good it was an evening with a purpose. At around 8:30pm it was time for business and to get serious. Everyone silenced and Tim Gunn announced the viewing of the Peta video. A fifteen minute showing the cruelty of animals and casualties involved for their fur, for fashion? Tim Gunn concluded, “I’m on a campaign to get as many fashion designers as possible to stop using it. I’d just like to sit with them and have a talk and ask, “Is it really necessary”. A very eventful part of the night along with award nominee actress Taraji P. Henson taking a stand by standing next to the life size Peta campaign ad of herself nearly naked that reads, Fur? I’d rather go naked. Taraji passionately spoke of her first experience watching such Peta videos and it breaking her heart. She admitted of being uneducated in the past on the facts and buying and wearing what some fashion industry people admire as luxury. “To all those fashion designers who sacrifice the life of animals she tells them” there are other products we can use ” Get fake fur”.
Thanks to fashion designers such as long time supporter of animal rights, Stella McCartney who joined forces with PETA , Tim Gunn, Taraji Henson and Olivia Munn and everyone who attended the Peta New York fashion week bash, the party was a true success.
