Korean designer Choonmoo Park has design in her blood. She has been around the fashion world for her entire life. As a child she spent many days in her family’s apparel business, honing her skills. She has been an avant garde designer since the late 80’s and since than has launched Demoo and Parkchoonmoo, both of which are a celebration of complexity and simplicity. The contrasting notions apply to the overall scope of the collections. While the color schemes are usually monochromatic with random shots of color, they often enclose a silhouette that is provocative and thought provoking. Her artistic approach to fashion is part of her signature style as is tactile fabrics and layering. For the Spring 2012 season the colors are black white and red. A familiar color scheme that soars to new heights in Park’s hands.
This combination of dramatically draped stripes against sheer skirting in a prime example of Park’s style.
We loved crisp white blazer mini dress combo. The bright blue band really pops against the blinding white jacket.
Park loves to add bright splashes of color to her trademark monochrome pieces. The splashes of red and blue on this romper whittle the waist and bring focus to the expert styling
As a collection the pieces come together masterfully painting a sophisticated portrait. Though avant garde by nature it can be said none of her pieces are made simply for shock value, they are made to be cherished, admired and above all else worn. Are you daring enough for Parkchoonmoo?
