Phillip Salem always wanted to open his own clothing store and that dream has finally been realized with OWEN, his new boutique in New York City’s Meatpacking District. This past Tuesday, June 5, Salem, along with former model and fashion “It Girl” Hanneli Mustaparta (Mustaparta co-hosted the party), Manrepeller’s Leandra Medine and designer Yigal Azroeul, opened the doors to his new boutique, which carries men’s and women’s contemporary clothing.
The store has more than 70 designers on its roster, such as Rogan, Sass & Bide and Timo Weiland (Weiland also DJ’ed the party), and the merchandise carried is tailored clothing with a primarily black and white palette. Of course, some of the merchandise is bright and poppy–fuchsia and blood orange–bringing an overall lightness to the space.
The unique interior of the store was designed by Jeremy Barbour of TACKLEBOX Architecture and an exposed brick wall and a textured, neutral wall combine to give the space a modern, industrial feel.
