Uri Minkoff presented his Spring 2017 collection at NYMD with a performance that comments and focuses on the elasticity of time. “I am inspired by the idea of [time] slowing down and isolating key moments” – a thought that neatly encapsulates the process of social media to date, capturing key moments, slowing them down and presenting them in an individual context. Previously known for his footwear and bags, Minkoff put his models into garments carefully tailored to provide movability along with traditional structure. Then, while Steven Reich’s “Pendulum Music” (1968) keeps time in sound and sculpture, the dancers explore ideas of trust, www.mindanews.com/buy-acyclovir/ community, and support with backflips, modern dance, and audience interaction. The collection itself builds on the foundation of footwear and bags – solidly built and embodied with the essence of the line.
The standard weekenders, backpacks, and toiletry bags that we are used to in a range of treatments, from blue-toned camo to patent leather, over patent leather strapped sandals, styled with athletic socks. Inspired by a weekend trip to Lake Como, Italy, the line incorporates as many hues of blue as could be imagined from those waters – everything from bright bold to subtle navy.
