As the only Mexican designer being featured at New York Fashion Week Men’s, Ricardo Seco’s Fall/Winter 2016 collection focuses on contemporary Mexico while drawing inspiration from the country’s bold and unique culture and history. Stark, dramatic black provides a foundation upon which Seco builds a vibrant line that plays with color, texture, luxury, and glamour. In this, his 9th collection, (titled “TIME”), Ricardo Seco combines the richness of Mexican culture with its new contemporary sophistication.
Dyed wool in bright hues of blue, red, and pink, punch up otherwise gray and white capes trimmed in fox fur at either end. The blue metallic thread woven into an indigo tunic makes for a playful look when styled over a waffled cotton sweatshirt and a striped belt of dyed wool, the end of which gradients from orange into pink. A deep black lamb leather jacket trimmed with a pink fox fur collar adds a level of luxury to an otherwise stark design.
Originally a businessman turned self-taught designer, Seco produces a collection that is uniquely inspired, and displays clean fabric detail and patterns, with a sophisticated fit, and we look forward to seeing how his future collections evolve.
