Matiere S/S ’16 #NYFWM debut was focused on sophisticated fabrics and details that give a strong sense of modernism and streetwise spirit.
Matiere spring ’16 hosted a color palette of creamy off-white that created a build-up to true indigo, dusted with grey and city-black – reminiscent of the ocean. The collection was comprised of sleek surfaces and interesting textiles paired with technical nylons, cotton slub, and brushed cashmere.
Matierie’s new vision had a significant focus on outerwear with reworked bomber jackets and anoraks for seasonal layering options. Other dope silhouettes that created a cohesive balance included baseball shirts, gusseted pants and the continuation of the brand’s love affair with the Henley tank top.
Standout Looks: Longer shorts and stylish sweats that are refreshingly cut at mid-calf; along with drawstring modal jersey t-shirts and woven chambray shirts in both black and white.
Matiere S/S 2016 is an inviting and exciting collection – and a further nod to dichotomy styles that push toward the forefront of what’s hot in fashion. I can easily see some of today’s hottest celebrities adding elements of the stylish low-key garments to their wardrobe.
The brand is known for premium fabrics and seamless designs aesthetics – now I’m a follower. Finally, a spring collection that actually felt like the upcoming season!
