This season Matiere focused on updating looks for the urban global traveler.
One of the few collections that actually designed for cold weather – Matiereused Italian virgin wool, woolen gauze plaids, and luxurious cashmere as running threads throughout, providing both texture and warmth.
I’m a big fan of Matiere’s casual metropolitan looks, and the collection wins as a menswear brand that allows materials to lead the overall design with modern silhouettes.
There are a lot of favorites within Matiere’s autumn/winter ’16 collection. Outerwear is done right in this collection with modern Harrington jackets, topcoats, and collarless bombers. Subtle tech elements like sealed zippers and adjustable cuff straps are fun additions this season. The collection also wins with varied weights and layered styling – designed for the traveler to adapt to his next venture.
Standout looks include the brand’s updated signature “apron front” pant; a red bomber jacket paired with a jogger pant; a textured puffer sweater; and a chic overcoat paired with a collarless burgundy button-down shirt.
While so many notable celebrities like Jaden Smith are polarizing with their overly feminine silhouettes, it’s refreshing to see a masculine approach to sleek designs. Men – take note…no more ambiguously female-influenced garments. Invest in proper designer brands like Matiere autumn/winter ’16.
