Designers and Noon By Noor founders Shaikha Noor Al Khalifa and Shaikha Haya Al Khalifa take an unstructured, relaxed, albeit expected, approach to their Fall 2016 collection that debuted on February 14 at New York City’s The Dock, Skylight Moynihan Station during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. Combining classic menswear tailoring with fluid feminine silhouettes, the collection features wide-leg mannish pants, silk pajama tops and floor-grazing trench coats with a bathrobe-like coziness in colors of white, sapphire gray, taupe, caramel, and midnight blue.
Bold embellishments of deconstructed buttons, metal chains, and polished wood squares are paired with rich textures of blue floral jacquard, black velvet, wool boucle and fur with patchwork details. Pieces with volume cut across a range of looks including an oversized waffle bomber and black pea coat. The designers explore negative versus positive space in the collection while juxtaposing textures and colors, with rose spot prints and patchwork details on fur coats and stoles.
Models with minimal make-up wearing chunky black crepe sole shoes reinforced the pieces’ simple, refined elegance.
