Brides may almost always wear white, but for Israeli bridal couture designer, Helena Kolan, that’s where the similarity between those saying “I do” ends. Timeless, elegant, and romantic, the thread that weaves Kolan’s Spring/Summer 2023 collection together is that it is simultaneously universal and individual.
At New York Fashion Week 2022, Kolan’s pieces were radiant with lace, embellishments, low-cut backs, and long flowing poet sleeves. Kolan’s collection has a subtle, dramatic punch with long trains, see-through netting, full skirts, and form-fitting pieces. A gown with a ruffled boa wrap and a flapper-inspired dress made of fringe reflect the designer’s vision that bridal couture should mirror the individuality and universality of the occasion.
Kolan, started her career at the age of 17 when she designed her first wedding gown for her friend’s wedding. Known for bridal collections that are classy and effortlessly chic, Kolan designs for brides who want gowns with clearly articulated details, clean lines, and strong tailoring that expresses their unique points of view.
In 2004 Kolan graduated from Shenkar College’s Department of Fashion Design and Industrial Engineering 2004 in Israel. In 2011, Kolan opened her wedding gown studio in, Tel Aviv. She now has stores/showrooms in New York and London. Los Angeles, Kruztel Germany, Dublin, Hong Kong, Moscow, and Bratislava Slovakia.
