Yesterday afternoon Dennis Basso debuted his Spring/Summer 2016 Collection during New York Fashion Week at Skylight at Moynihan Station. Basso an American fashion designer who is known for his couture fur designs gave us something a little bit different with this collection. He still wowed us with his furs but he didn’t stop there. Basso used bright colors, floral designs, lace, and chiffon to tell the story of the bold and fearless woman.
It was noted in the program that “the inspiration for the collection is the style of the many different women “south of the border”. Visions of strong, glamorous and alluring women from Mexico City to Havana to Rio to Buenos Aires and all of the cities in between. These women dress with confidence to look good and feel good.” The fashion show embodied all of that and then some.
Some highlights of the show were a yellow and pink print scuba dress, a mulberry crocodile & broadtail hand cut and embroidered coat, a mulberry hand embroidered lace dress, a gold hand embroidered floral lace-up leather dress and an ivory & platinum hand embroidered textured silk gown.
A photo frenzy ensued when Paris and Nicky Hilton were spotted sitting front row center. Throughout the show, the Hilton sisters could be seen nodding in approval and discussing their favorite pieces.
