Tonight, fans of NBC’s runaway hit Revolution will find themselves enthralled in a thrilling new season. The show’s plot follows a group of revolutionaries attempting to survive 15 years after a worldwide blackout that plunges the Earth into darkness. The series takes place in the USA and gives a startling portrayal of life without electricity. For much of the world the lack of energy is very real. Many of the world’s biggest slums are without the luxuries that many of us take for granted. This fact is what makes the series so engaging and real. Earlier this week we attended an advance screening of the season 2 premiere as well as a panel discussion with some of the show’s cast as well as UN delegates who weighed in on the more realistic aspects of the program.

At the end of the screening guests had the opportunity to engage in a panel discussion with a few of the shows stars as well as representatives from the UN. Giancarlo Esposito, Billy Burke and Tracy Spiradakos assisted in the panel discussion by offering insight into the onset atmosphere of the show. Tracy showed great emotion at the thought of having to leave and lose contact with relatives much like the characters on the series. She was visibly choked up at the very notion. The UN reps provided some interesting insights into the real world consequences and the harsh reality of life without electricity. The astonishing truth is we as Americans use far more electricity than most countries. For example, the island of Manhattan, uses as much electricity as the entire country of Kenya. Manhattan is roughly 33 miles in size and Kenya is a staggering 225,000 miles!
Revolution fans both new and old can expect an action packed season 2 with some more realistic visions as well as some serious Sci-Fi changes much like the series Lost. The new season begins Wednesday September 25th. Check your local listings for time and channel.
