Working man Douglas Quaid (Farrell) treats himself to a virtual vacation and discovers a life he didn’t know he had. Quaid’s reality falls to pieces before his eyes and his fantasy becomes a living nightmare. This remake of the Schwarzenegger classic of the same name comes two years after the 20th anniversary of the original film. Like most remakes the central story is retold with more dazzling special effects and an update in technology. Fans of the original can expect slight nods to the first film and a sleek more stylized visual experience. While the story remains true to the original in some aspects there are enough changes in the story line to make for a completely new movie going experience.
There is very little profanity and no real sexual situations so this film is okay for children under 12, but children under 5 may not get much of the plot so leave them at home. If you haven’t seen the original we suggest you watch before seeing the remake, so you don’t miss out on the little jokes and references. This film is rated PG-13 (for intense sequences of sci-fi violence and action, some sexual content, brief nudity, and language) and Opens Friday, August 4.
