The Burnett family is completely dysfunctional. Divided by past hurts and indiscretions they are rocked when matriarch Bunnie (Hope Davis) bumps her head and suffers from memory loss. She forgets how much she loathes her husband (Dermot Mulroney) how strained her relationship is with her children and even forgets the affair she was having with neighbor Simon (Chi McBride). Though damaged and unaware of her family’s troubles she seeks forgiveness for crimes she doesn’t remember committing.
Though at its heart this film is a story of forgiveness and family it is told in a quirky comedic form, providing hearty laughs and impossible situations throughout. The movie is filled with interesting characters, like the gun toting pot smoking reverend, bible quoting playground bullies, and a dead peeping tom hanging from a tree. Seriously insane, the film keeps the laughs and bizarre circumstances coming, making for one of the more interesting films this year.
There are several sexual situations and a bit of partial nudity, so this film isn’t recommended for children under 17. Grab some friends or a hot date and check out this funny indie film. Great for those who love a good laugh and bit of drama. From start to end this film is an enjoyable romp through one family’s journey toward forgiveness.
