Agent 007 is gunned down by friendly fire and presumed dead. His “death” and failed mission result in departmental chaos and blaming which brings his superior M under fire. With the threat of forced retirement and Bond missing M finds herself in even deeper trouble as a mad man targets her and the remaining agents of M16 under fire. The bold tactics and murderous plot bring Bond back from the dead to resume his post to clear M’s good name, restoring the agency’s honor. SkyFall is Craig’s 3rd film as the legendary agent. During his tenure as Bond the brand has enjoyed a brilliant resurgence, with an updated timeline and framework. The series has been reset in the present day, with each film providing the back story for some of our favorite characters. Bond fans can breathe a sigh of relief as the original wit and cool factor is still a major part of the franchise.
The action is non stop from the very first few minutes and lasts through to the climactic end. One of the film’s highlights is Javier Bardem’s ruthless villain. The witty quips and deliciously evil actions add a measure of comedy and excitement to this film. This is a very violent film with some sex and of course bad language, so keep the under 15 crowd at home. This may be the 23rd film in a decades old series but the writing, direction and intrigue are as entertaining as the first. Craig may not be the first Bond, but he’s the Bond of this generation, his movies make Bond a more relevant character in the ever changing landscape of action films. This film is rated R.
