Furious 7 is the 7th installment (duh) of the Fast and Furious franchise. It is also the final film of actor Paul Walker who passed away before production ended. As with most movies in the genre, expect a high octane action-packed ride with stunts much more complicated than the plot. Even if you haven’t seen the first 6 movies you can certainly follow the story line. The difference between this installment and the earlier films is a large injection of emotion. This film is much more emotionally charged than its predecessors. While that can be a bonus the extra emotion doesn’t really move the story along, it just makes for some really awkward moments and weird sentimentality. Tear-jerking moments aside from the stunts in this film are off the charts! Adrenaline junkies will be floored by some of the insanity showcased in this film. One of the best stunts featured the late Paul Walker trying desperately to avoid heading over a cliff. He actually dangles precariously from a falling bus before hurdling himself on top of the still falling vehicle and running for his life to the safety of the edge of the cliff. We won’t even tell you how he pulls that off, you will simply have to see it to believe it.
If you’re looking for great dialogue, a fascinating plot and a life lesson, I suggest you see something else. If you want to watch cars race, witness crazy stunts, fierce fighting, and corny one-liners this is your film. It is a seriously enjoyable movie, a great escape from reality. We could have done without all the sentimental crap but given the circumstances, it makes for a fitting tribute to one of the franchises brightest stars.
