Chiang’s Fall Collection, inspired by artists including Jeff Koons, Daisy Fellowes and Zaha Hadid, is what Chiang describes as a “jolt to the senses.” To illustrate said “jolt” Chiang combined “contradictory elements in unexpected ways.”
Upon entering the presentation, you could immediately recognize that the above describes the heart of the collection perfectly. Chiang found ways to bring out the graceful femininity in leather by combining it with other fabrics such as mink, wool and tweed.
Among key looks in the collection were some outstanding pieces such as the Stretch Nappa Leather Bodysuit paired with a wide leg pant, the Full Zip Leather Ankle Skirt paired with a drop shoulder knit top, the Raw Edge Peacoat with Shearling Sleeves and my favorite look… the Jacquard Pouf Dress accessorized with a Mink Equestrian Hat, Leather Opera Gloves and (to die for) Leather Spats.
This was my favorite collection of the season!
Psst… among the attendees of Chiang’s presentation was Million Dollar Decorator Mary McDonald who is designing the Monika Chiang SoHo store.
