Memorial day weekend is the perfect excuse to dust off that sexy outfit and head out for a night on the town. The weather is just right for a moonlit rendezvous at one of New York City’s trendiest nightspots. Though there are many to choose from we recommend Monarch. This rooftop and indoor lounge are located on the 18th floor of the Marriot Courtyard, Herald Square. The location is right in the heart of midtown and offers a great view of the city below. We visited the lounge earlier this week for a quick bite and libations. Having been to Monarch before we were excited to see the new seasonal menu items.
The cocktail menu offers an assortment of refreshing tropical cocktails. One of our favorites is the “Pain Killer” This rum-based cocktail is made with dark rum, Disarrono Amaretto, orange juice, and cream of coconut. If you love tequila will love the “Monarch Margarita”. This cocktail offers a twist on the classic with the fresh taste of muddled cucumber and herbaceous rosemary.
One should never imbibe on an empty stomach. Luckily Monarch has a delicious menu of small plates and bites to enjoy with your beverage. The menu features a slightly elevated selection of bar food favorites. The beef sliders are one of our favorites. They are made with 100% Angus beef and topped with aged cheddar and “secret” sauce. For a seafood version of the slider, we recommend the lobster roll. Tasty chunks of lobster are tossed with celery and sprinkled with old bar seasoning then placed on a soft buttery mini brioche buns.
Flatbread is always a crowd pleaser and Monarch gets it right with its crispy flatbread options. We thoroughly enjoyed the pepperoni and fresh mozzarella flatbread. For an extra protein boost, we added some thinly sliced prosciutto.
Start the weekend off right and head to Monarch an after-work sunset party. Feel free to stick around and enjoy the late night fun. Click here to reserve your table and get your summer started the right way.
