I am supposing that since Mercedes Benz Fashion Week was moved to Lincoln Center this season the shoes should be all about theater. Walking into the Duckie Brown Spring 2011 show was slightly unnerving as only one side of risers were being utilized. The opposing side was completely empty. This is odd because what folks talk about most during Mercedes Benz Fashion Week is who has seats to which show. It was all theater.
As the models started walking down the runway the first looks were mainly neutrals: grey, grey and grey. Not only was it grey it was also over-sized, which didn’t make me any more excited for the rest of the show.
I was drawn in by the fact that models began filling the empty risers across from our seats instead of heading backstage.
As the show progressed color started slipping its way into the lineup and then transitioned into every piece coming down was full of color. The line included dark pink “low crotch” sweat pants.
What can I say about the “low crotch” sweat pants…..I’ll is nice, it’s not my thing. I am not sure who could pull that look off and why they would. I am a fan of impeccable tailoring. It’s classic and will always be in style. No matter what goes on in the tents, 007 still looks hot in a tailored tuxedo or suit.
To wrap up Duckie Brown in two statements it would be “Oversized” and “Low Crotch”. Do those words sound good to you?
