“This is a generous gift for our students in the All City High School Marching Band and we are grateful,” Chancellor Dennis M. Walcott said. “These students work hard after school and put on performances that benefit the entire city, and are a joy to watch. Now, as they continue their successful performances, they will do so in style.”
Andy Grammer, a trumpet player in High School, embraced the band by yelling out “let me introduce you to my band.” The rest of the students assembled in the gymnasium cheered for their fellow peers and finished all the lines to Andy’s songs. In addition, the gymnasium when into an uproar when Andy Grammer tried to leave, chanting “we want more.” Andy came back out and did an acoustic rendition of Beyonce’s “Irreplaceable,” with all in attendance singing along.
The All City High School Marching Band is comprised of students from several inner city schools that dedicate their own time to perform in national competitions and events such as the Macy’s Day Parade.
