Peplum and pinstripe and Swarovski, oh my! Known for translations of ease and casual sensuality, Yigal Azrouel took queues from his Spring 2010 line to breath new life into his Fall 2010 floor grazers and asymmetrical mini dresses. While there is no shortage of tailoring and structure, hints of detail like trompe l’oeil layering suggest nothing should be restricting. “I love a woman in a suit,” Yigal makes clear. “It just looks so fresh.” Separates and staples aplenty for the grab-and-go fashionista this season. No one did a more covetable high wasted pleat-pant or make-it-mine leather jacket. And I get the feeling that these masterpieces will actually function in cooler climates – even if only to turn up the heat on your own style thermostat. We bumped into the legendary Mikki Taylor of Essence Magazine after the show and she was so kind to offer her thoughts on the show.
