Malan Breton presented his Spring/Summer 2014 collection in a presentation style inspired setting at The Box at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. Fashion show goers were welcomed into the space with haunting opera songs sung by the powerful Yujin Kim who wore a strapless black gown that covered several feet of the floor around her. Show attendees had the chance to walk the space and see the models – in couples – who were lined up in a semi-circle around the floor.

The designer utilized suits on all the males throughout the presentation in various colors – white, camel, turquoise, burnt orange, and pink. One male model wore a futuristic looking turquoise satin suit; his accompanying female model wore a long, turquoise satin dress with a vest overlay mimicking the futuristic bent of her counterpart. The next male model wore pink silk pants and a black blazer; his female partner wore the same colors in a pink dress with a black corset. But, to change the look a bit and not be too predictable, Breton put some of the males and females both in suits so the direct connection wasn’t as apparent. Each couple had a distinctive look, however, the collection still maintained the unity the designer was trying to convey by his matching of the color palates.
Malan Breton certainly had a vision – and this vision was one of beauty, purpose and thought-provoking ideas about the male/female connection.
