Loft presented its 2011 Spring Summer collection last week at the New Museum Skyroom. The space is a bright airy venue with an outside deck overlooking the Manhattan skyline. Though the temp may have been dropping outside the atmosphere was warm and inviting as waiters roamed the party offering guests h’orderves and sparkling beverages. Spectators surveyed the collection on mannequins atop platforms and were invited to an accessory showcase to view the bracelets and other baubles up close and personal. The collection as always was bright, fun, and sophisticated a testament to creative director, Alia Ahmed-Yahia‘s commitment to keeping the brand on the forefront of all major trends.
One of our favorite pieces was the tiered ruffle windbreaker. A sporty chic jacket perfect for early spring in a soft coral shade, this was paired with a coral print blouse and draped skirt for a fun relaxed look.
We also liked the nautical striped knit dress. A cropped blazer and brown belt were added to this cowl necked dress. A perfect outfit to go from the office to happy hour.
The various cuts of blazers were also a big hit at the event. Our top pick was the ruffle lapel blazer. The one button jacket worn with a draped top and shorts is understated and comfortably sexy.
Loft’s spring collection is romantic, colorful and modern with a casually sophisticated edge. With summer a painful memory and winter’s blustery cold just on the horizon we left Loft’s preview looking ever forward to spring and with it the promise of easy days and romantic nights.
