Lands’ End 2011 Fall Collection celebrated its mastery in flirting with a Classic American feel with a modern twist. The play on autumn and primary colors was a beautiful mix that will emit a festive exuberance during those dreary winter days. It separated the retailer from most of what’s to come this season leaving man, woman, and child with an eager need to own everything on display. Created in 1963, the American brand’s return took inspiration from its sailing roots. Close Cut Knits, Chinos and one of a kind accessories were expertly styled with Close-fitting Jackets and Outerwear. Some downs included faux fur removable hooded options, while the Shimmer Down low heat and Luxe Down jackets stood proudly with little girls feeling as fabulous as their mothers. There was a sense of ‘bulk-lessness’ that will lend to easier travel especially with the shrunken puffer vests and the Squalls. In fact, the inside lining in the children squalls expands to fit as the child grows for the next season. The Navy Wool Pea Coats with toggle adornment sitting over a slimming three-piece suit was an exemplary lesson in classic men’s styling. The women’s ease of fashion came to life for me in the Canvas Display. The Classic Navy women’s military-style Heritage Peacoat was everything and it’s great to know that it will also be available in tomato-red.
In the sea of retailers that honors an American tradition, it is clear that Lands’ End has no end. Congratulations on your triumphant designs. The canvas totes are definite must-haves but more importantly, the collection is chic and the prices can’t be beaten.
