The Ramcale in lower Manhattan was the place to be last Wednesday. It was there that Jig Pattni made his American Debut. Amid a crowd of well-wishers, gorgeous models, and executives this award-winning designer presented his beautifully crafted pieces. Attended by philanthropist Unik Ernst as well as producer Beth Melilo, this event had a mix of people almost as eclectic as the pieces themselves. As if admiring the art of Pattni wasn’t enough of a thrill, revelers were also treated to a performance by vocalist Radmilla Lolly, a vision in a stunning emerald gown. As the party-goers enjoyed the spirits and hor d’oeuvres whilst admiring the award-winning collections’ main collections, the charismatic designer glided about the loft, flanked by admirers. His impromptu entourage appeared to be entranced by his every utterance, as he explained in detail the inspiration and workmanship behind each piece. Decked out in a beautifully tailored suit he lovingly discussed each item, with the pride of a parent boasting about his favorite child. His pride is well deserved, as he has won several design awards in his native UK, has been showcased at the exclusive tower of London, and was one of only a handful of designers chosen to exhibit at the prestigious Louvre in Paris.
Though 2010 was his American debut Jewelry runs in his blood as he comes from a long line of jewelry merchants. Dating back several centuries Jig has been a part of every aspect of jewelry production and it shows. Each individual piece has a unique detailing that could only have been a labor of love. Each piece was displayed in glass cubes atop black columns. A fitting case for these museum-worthy accessories. One of our favorite pieces was a gorgeous pendant of white gold limb encircled by a winding serpent of diamonds and rubies. This piece called simply “Anger” comes from the 7 sins collection and depending on the price tag may inspire more envy than anger. Though we certainly feel lust for Pattni’s pieces.
