Mavis Staples Takest SummerStage
Who: Mavis Staples
What: City Parks Foundation kicked off the 2017 SummerStage season with soul & gospel icon Mavis Staples and musician and soul artist Toshi Reagon on Saturday, June 3rd at Central Park. Ms. Staples delivered an electrifying performance to the packed crowd at Central Park, showcasing her impressive vocal range. She performed the classic hit “Respect Yourself” and ended the evening with her legendary hit, “I’ll Take You There”. Ms. Staples is currently touring in support of her latest record, Livin’ On A High Note.
In addition, musician, producer and rock-folk soul artist Toshi Reagon with her band BigLovely brought her hold-nothing-back approach to SummerStage performing her fusion of rock, blues, R&B, country, funk, spirituals and folk music. City Parks SummerStage showcases over 100 free and benefit shows across all five New York boroughs.

What: Director/Writer Trey Edward Shults celebrated the premiere of his film IT COMES AT NIGHT with cast members. Following the premiere, guests headed to the after party where they enjoyed drinks courtesy of Ruffino Wines.

Orphan Black Celebrates Last Season
Who: The cast of BBC’s Orphan Black
What: Orphan Black is a Canadian science fiction thriller television series, which stars Tatiana Maslany, Dylan Bruce, Jordan Gavaris, Kevin Hanchard, Michael Mando, Maria Doyle Kennedy, Évelyne Brochu, Ari Millen, Kristian Bruun, and Josh Vokey. This is the 5th and final season of the series. The cast danced the night away to the sounds of DJ Kiss and munched on a buffet style dinner. The 3-hour party was one for the books!

Hôtel Americano’s Annual Summer Rooftop Kickoff Party
Who: Alexandre Assouline, Dror Benshetrit, Peter Brant, Jr., Ricky Clifton, Malaika Firth, Cyril Foiret, Logan Horne, Ben Jordan, Malik Lindo-Ireland, Ian Luna, Phil Sullivan, and Andrew Warren.
What: Hôtel Americano hosted its annual summer kickoff party with a newly renovated pool and rooftop, La Piscine. Earlier in the week, they also introduced a weekly gig “Eat Me Alice” hosted by DJ, curator, and food lover Alice Longyu Gao. Guests enjoyed salmon truffle crepes, foie gras tartlets, and parmesan crisps by Americano’s Chef Bryan Noury while shopping the vintage pop-up with finds curated by fashion blogger Anaa Saber.

The 1st Annual Golden Tier Awards
Who: The 1st Annual Golden Tier Awards
What: American Cake Decorating Magazine and New York Cake Show founder Lisa Mansour presented the 1st annual Golden Tier Awards over the weekend. The evening included a full open bar, dinner, and of course dessert. The awards ceremony recognizes the achievements of the best of the best in the dessert world. The room was filled with the industries most well-respected cake decorators and designers. After the ceremony, attendees celebrated at the Tuck Room, located just above the iPic theaters. Everyone danced the night away while enjoying cake and other treats.
