Over the weekend, on Saturday, August 5th, Stony Brook Southampton Hospital held its 61st Annual Summer Party. The party took place on a field inside a huge luxury tent located in Southampton. The evening included cocktails, dinner, and dancing to benefit the Jenny and John Paulson Emergency Department, which is South Fork’s only emergency care facility, treating more than 25,000 people annually. This is one of the biggest and best fundraisers each year. The Stony Brook Southampton Hospital event has raised an impressive $1.5M+ in 2018 and $100M+ over the past 60 years.
Before dinner, attendees enjoyed a cocktail hour. During the cocktail hour, Hamptons Lemonade and Hamptontinis were served alongside top-shelf wines and cocktails; and a new local brand, Montaukila provided its 100 percent agave Azul tequila. The dinner was emceed Chuck Scarborough and attended by the who’s who of Southampton. This year’s honorees are Martin and Jean Shafiroff, both longtime supporters of the hospital. Jean Shafiroff said, “It’s essential that the towns and villages of the East End have access to world-class healthcare which is why my husband and I are dedicated to supporting the hospital in its mission to bring the best and latest in medicine to our communities. It’s a great honor for both of us to receive this award. and we, in turn, wish to thank everyone at the hospital for all they do for this community.” During her speech, she thoughtfully asked guests to take a moment of silence to remember the victims of the recent El Paso and Ohio shootings. It was truly a touching moment.
When it comes to décor, you call one of the best in the business, Larry Scott of Lawrence Scott Events. Scott transformed an ordinary white tent into a magical oasis. They provided the ambiance and gourmet offerings. Larry Scott’s floral décor had some guests asking if the ginormous flowers were real!? The inspiration for the floral design was inspired by Jean Shafiroff’s elegant style and glamorous gowns.
The room was filled with many guests who were eager to give. Notables included Laura Lofaro Freeman, Caitlin Diebold O’Connell, Cindy Willis, Bob Chaloner, Steve Bernstein and Debbe Bernstein, Wilbur Ross and Hilary Geary Ross, Greg D’Elia, Rebecca Seawright, Susan Bordeaux, and Howard Lorber, and Dede Moan and Terry Moan, to name a few.
After dinner, just about every attendee filled the dance floor to groove to the live sounds of Element Music. It was definitely a night to remember.
