Bröd Kitchen is a super healthy, Nordic-inspired, seasonal, haunt on the Upper East Side at 1201 Second Ave (63rd street), focused on bringing the ingredient-driven, artful style of Nordic cuisine to New York City. Serving a daily rotation of freshly baked bread, homemade soups, salads and more, Bröd will be your new favorite grab-and-go spot for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Yesterday, I stopped by the UES eatery to have my very first smorrebrod. What is a smorrebrod you ask? It’s a homemade rye bread topped with fresh, seasonal ingredients, served opened faced. Bröd Kitchen has many options to suit your taste buds. These savory little bites were quite delicious, my favorite being the Salmon Smorrebrod (.95), which is topped with smoked salmon, cream cheese, and a slice of lemon. It literally melts right in your mouth and the lemon was like the icing on a cake, perfection. My other favorite was the Tomato-Basil Smorrebrod () with cherry tomatoes, basil, balsamic vinegar, and cream cheese. It most certainly is flavorful and pairs perfectly with a chilled glass of pinot noir or hard cider. Other smorrebrod options include ham, prosciutto, roast beef, shrimp, and roast chicken, to name a few. Prices for the smorrebrod range between .75 and 1.
All ingredients at Bröd Kitchen are the highest of quality and locally sourced. Their Artisan bread uses long-fermentation and highest quality ingredients for better health standards and longer shelf life. Now is the best time to indulge in the delicious Smorrebrods. Bröd Kitchen will be hosting a “Smorrebrod Happy Hour” where customers can buy 2 and get 1 for FREE. The specials will be running all week long, April 13-20th from 1-7pm.
Bröd Kitchen is located at 1201 Second Ave New York, New York and will soon open new locations in Greenwich Village and Hoboken.
