Hyden Yoo’s Spring 2012 collection was light and diaphanous and straight out of the 1920s via Indochina. The models sat in intimate groupings in and around an open-air patio, which amplified the casual luxury of the clothes. The clothes were perfect for the girl and boy who require ventilation from the heat but not from the languid glamour that was on show. Notable pieces included a light yellow blouse with oversized envelope pockets, floor length cotton and silk voile skirts with deep side slits from the knee, and the most adorable cuffed shorts. There were also a variety of cropped tops and little jackets in crinkled natural fibers.
For men, the notable pieces were slim pants, pleated trousers, and an ocean blue T-shirt with oversized envelope pockets.
The romantic and sensual quality of the clothes was due in part to its loose construction, which gave an erotic sense of space between the fabric and the wearer’s skin.
