The second annual ShowStoppers took place yesterday at IconLA in conjunction with E3. The event kicked off with a press conference for Wemade Entertainment where Kisung Kim discussed eight new games the company will be launching for mobile gaming devices. The games ranged from multi-player online role playing and social enhanced game play to online strategy and defense and multi-player combat. Of the eight games one that stuck out was Friend Fighter.
Friend Fighter is a multi-player combat game that takes features of older arcade games such as Street Fighter and adds a new mobile user twist. The game features ability based continuous combo attacks and will be made available for both iOS and Android systems. When playing this game one can raise character levels to unlock more moves as well as raise player levels to unlock more playable characters. There are two modes in Friend Fighter, you have battle mode where you fight against friends or random fighters, and you have care mode where you can step into battle in place of a friend. Just from getting a brief look at the game I think this is something a lot of people will have fun with.
After the Wemade Entertainment press conference we had the opportunity to check out a few other hot products and games. Maximum Games introduced Jett Tailfin a sea fish racing game that will be available on Wii U and Nintendo 3DS. Jett Tailfin consists of race tracks that are set up as βecosystemsβ that offer both visually stimulating and exciting racing environments. With this game players are able to race with up and down as well as side to side movements. Online game play of Jett Tailfin allows players to race against as many as eight other players at one time. Along with the main game there are also fun mini games that will help players perfect their Jett Tailfin skills.
Entropic Communications were on hand to discuss MoCa also known as Multimedia over Coax. What MoCa does is allow you to network all the devices in your home using a coax connection. With MoCa you are able to stream content in HD and share photos, video and audio with both high speeds and efficiency. MoCa is easy to install and operates with Cable, Satellite and IPTV. Boldai, a team of software developers whose main goal is to βrevolutionize gaming with the vision anyone can make gamesβ presented a game titled Blocksworld to those in attendance at ShowStoppers. Blocksworld is essentially like playing with LEGOβs on your phone. The user is able to create anything from robots to helicopters. Not only do you build your own creations you can press play and watch them come alive right before your eyes. You can also share whatever you make with other builders on Blocksworld.com, Twitter, and Facebook.
ESCORT Inc. who is known for designing and manufacturing leading radar/laser detectors were on hand to demonstrate their new navigation and ticketing protection system called ESCORT Live. ESCORT Live is being described as a form of βsocial networking for the road.β With ESCORT Live you combine the SmartCord Live, which is used in place of your phones power cord, with the downloadable app to have access to speed limit changes, and gain knowledge of areas where radars are being used. With this system drivers are less likely to get tickets because they will be warned with an alert that will be sent directly to their smartphone.
Aurasma showed off there Aurasma Lite App which allows user to take print ads to a whole different level. With Aurasma Lite certain ads that are embedded with βaurasβ come to life with video and audio content. You simply open up the app, hold your smart phone up to the image and watch as a picture truly speaks a thousand words. I have never seen anything like this before and I think itβs an groundbreaking and attention grabbing way for companies to market their brands to consumers.
To cap off an evening that was filled with innovation Samsung announced that they recently formed a partnership with Ubisoft. For a limited time only consumers who purchase the Samsung 830 Series SSDs will also get a downloadable version of Ubisoftβs Tom Clancyβs Ghost Recon: Future Soldier. The Samsung 830 Series SSDs βallow gamers to boot their systems far more quickly, load games or other apps in a flash, and enjoy a remarkably fast paced gaming experience.β
It was a night filled with wonderment and fun with a name like ShowStoppers I wouldnβt expect anything less from this event.
