On Tuesday, we ventured down to the Lower East Side for the private press preview and grand opening of the Asian Fusion restaurant and lounge, HaChi. The ultra-chic yet unpretentious dual-level space is contemporary and open in its concept and design creating the relaxed atmosphere. The Asian décor is tasteful and includes flowers stitched onto sliding glass screens providing some mystery between the bar and lounge area; the sushi bar in the back with sous chefs preparing fresh rolls contributes to the inviting atmosphere.
The menu showcases creative Asian tapas with a French influence while incorporating seasonal and local ingredients. Guests were privy to some signature hors d’oeuvres including Yellowtail Jalepeno with Yuzu soy dressing, Steamed Chilean Seabass with edamame fennel puree, and Filet Mignon with a wasabi potato spring roll.
HaChi is a great addition to LES and once it implements other planned features such as a late night menu and a weekly entertainment schedule, it will, certainly, add another dimension to the space.
