Last week we joined East Side House Settlement for the 16th Annual Gala Preview. The setting for the occasion was once again, the New York International Auto Show at the Jacob K. Javits Center. Guests, which included philanthropists, car enthusiasts, and more, we’re treated to a cocktail reception, silent auction, and a private dinner for benefactors. The Gala was chaired by Philip L. Yang, Joan P. Young, and Chris LaSusa, and the Benefit Committee was chaired by Fe Fendi, Morgan Shara, and Mariana Zois.
Before dinner, the crowd indulged in Wodka Vodka and Alibi Whiskey cocktails, while grooving to the sounds of DJ David Chang. One of the stars of the evening, was the 2016 Porsche models, generously provided by Manhattan Motorcars. These amazing muscle cars included a 919 Hybrid, a 918 Spyder, a Cayenne S E-Hybrid, and a Panamera S E-Hybrid. Guests just simply could not get enough of taking selfies with the cars. Speaking of the cars, one major highlight of the evening was the live auction, where a lucky bidder walked away with an all-new 2016 Porsche Cayman GT4! Amazing!
Other big auction items included dinner at at Rao’s; a VIP experience to entertain 16 guests in a private Mets Skybox at Citi Field; an exclusive golf outing at Jasna Polana; and a fabulous Vermont Getaway package from Twin Farms Resort and Simon Pearce. It was exciting to watch as guests raise over $500,000 for East Side House Settlement. The funds will help support children and families in the South Bronx and surrounding communities to help enrich, supplement and enhance the public school system and place college within reach of motivated students.
