Geoffrey Mac was a breath of fresh air from the typical fall fashion shows. How many more feathered and ruched gowns do we need to see?! Geoffrey’s show was creative, intriguing, and the epitome of edgy fashion. Once his show began at the Exit Art studio our eyes were glued to the medley of mod and futuristic styles that came down the catwalk. We could also call the collection a tad bit zainy and psychedelic because of its costume-like features. We could see a number of celebrities like Beyonce, Lady Gaga, or Nicki Minaj performing in one of his pieces.
Although we were quite entertained with color-blocked leather skirts, exaggerated shoulders, and cone detailing on body con dresses and skirts, we appreciated the elements of simplicity he displayed in leather-detailed baby doll dresses and wool coats with silk lining. Geoffrey’s fall collection is indubitably for the downtown type of girl. It was a little bit funky and a little bit rock-n-roll. The fun of the collection was all in the details. There were black leather pipe jackets, wool skirts with side slit details, printed leathers, crochet tops with leather details, skirts and dresses with back button overlap details, and loads of pieces with piping. He even managed to include a latex mini dress and a fantastic wool skirt with dip dye ombre.
We think it’s best that we leave the cone-detailed pieces and bright-colored George Jetson-styled jackets to the likes of Lady Gaga and Nicki Minaj. However, if you’re looking to add a little edginess to your wardrobe and get your poker face on a la Gaga then Geoffrey Mac proved he is the way to go.
