Location: 1076 1st Avenue, New York, NY 10022
Cuisine: Steak and Seafood
Best Dish: The crab cakes were splendid but Four Cuts is a steakhouse and they serve up one of the best rib eyes on the city. The high quality meat is seared beautifully and fork tender, no knives required.
Overall: An impressive well tended eatery with a charming staff and exemplary service. Four Cuts makes an excellent option for a special dinner or an impressive date.
The east side is currently enjoying an influx of activity. New boutiques and eateries are cropping up all over the place. Restaurateur Christopher Miller is getting in on the action with his new steakhouse “Four Cuts”. Having been chef at one of NYC’s most popular restaurants, Miller knows a great deal about beef and brings over a decade of expertise to the Eastside. The decor is a mixture of modern and traditional.
We started our dinner service with a duo of seafood appetizers, the Crab Cakes, and Little Neck Clams. The Crab Cakes are thick and packed with buttery lump crab meat. The cakes are accompanied by a small green salad for some additional texture and freshness.
The Little Neck Clams are served on the half shell in an ice tray with lemon wedges for garnish and a bit of acidity.
We kept our seafood food fest going with our first entree, the Branzino. We have had Branzino several times and this was the first time we’ve had it breaded and crispy. The fish arrived topped with seasonal squash and zucchini.
After the light delicious seafood, we were ready to enjoy the meat selection. We began the carnivorous portion of our meal with the lamb chops. The Lamb is seared to perfection and served with a side of mint jelly. Lamb is one of our favorite meats and it was done perfectly, the tender flesh was seasoned well and properly seared.
We saved the best for last and devoured the Ribeye Steak with an order of truffle fries and sauteed spinach. The steak was fork tender and lightly seasoned. The steak and chops options offered can be paired with an assortment of sauces. We wanted something unique for our steak and chose the truffle butter which added a burst of flavor and decadence. We enjoyed the Truffle Butter so much we even poured a little on our side of Sauteed Spinach.
Miller’s Four Cuts Steakhouse offers diners a deliciously sophisticated dining experience. The eatery has been open since and October and in that brief amount of time has garnered some well-deserved buzz thanks in part to their commitment to quality meats and top notch service. The east side is home to many restaurants but few authentic steakhouses. Four Cuts stands apart from the usual fare with its warm hospitality and unyielding charm.
