As a member of the “four eyes” club, I found it extremely hard to find a good pair of prescription glasses that fit well, were comfortable, and of course fashionable. My current daily glasses from Gant not as comfortable as they should have been and would began to squeeze my head after wearing them for a little over an hour. If you’ve experienced this, then you know it can be quite painful. I guess my eye doctor didn’t do such a good job during the fitting. I unfortunately had to learn the hard way how important it is to have the correct measurements when ordering frames. Luckily I started to hear buzz about a new startup eyewear company that focuses on the look and feel of glasses.
Introducing
Angie Stocklin briefly chatted with us about felix + iris:
How did you come up with the name felix + iris and what does the name mean?
felix means Happy in latin and iris is a play on the word Eyes. So the name means Happy Eyes and our companies purpose to to bring a happier world into focus. We want to making people happy by giving them the perfect fit.
What makes felix + iris different from other competitors?
We focus on the fit problem with our fit profile tool and fit kit. On our website we’ve included tips on how to get your best fit so your glasses won’t slide down your nose. The fit kit is a regular home try-on system, making sure you get your perfect fit so you don’t just pick out what’s trendy or what people think looks good on you. We have the personalization aspect as well as additional tool like the virtual try on so you can achieve the best fit.
After out chat I got to take a closer look at their frames and wasn’t too fond of the styles at first but did take a liking to the Glen wayfarer style frames. I don’t particularly enjoy anything too flashy. I’m all about a classic look and keeping it simple. The Glen frames represented that for me.
After picking the perfect pair, I fired up the felix + iris website to order my soon to be permanent frames. The optical specialist quickly saw that I was uncomfortable with my current frames, for obvious reasons and did a one-on-one session with me to obtain the correct measurements. After a quick measurement and inputting my prescription, we were on the right track to making sure my Glen frames would fit comfortably. Only time would tell! The entire ordering process took approximately 10 minutes without interruption.
After a little over a week, I arrived home to a brightly colored box containing my new prescription glasses. Its contents were just as well manicured as the outside I must say. After a week of wearing them everyday, I have yet to experience any discomfort. I absolutely enjoy the fit and love the style of the Glen frames. They have since replaced my previous pair. No more squeezing!
