Ameriie Performs at the SoftSheen-Carson Roots of Nature Picture of Strength Event
When Ameriie came on to the music scene in 2002 with Why Don’t We Fall In Love, from her debut album All I Have, I thought she was just another pretty face with a sweet voice. I wasn’t totally convinced that she had what it takes to last past a first single. By her second single Talkin To Me, I found myself humming the song and unable to shake it from my head. By her sophomore album, Touch and single 1 Thing, Ameriie had made me take notice. The catchy chorus and Go-Go inspired beat gave me something to work out to in the gym. It was clear to me the not only was Ameriie here to stay, but she wasn’t afraid to explore and go against a cookie-cutter mold that most artists get trapped in.
On Saturday 25th Ameriie joined actress/comedienne Niecy Nash and Celebrity Stylist Johnny Wright in Chicago for SoftSheen-Carson Roots of Nature’s “Portrait of Strength” Benefit. The event brought the Chicago community together for beauty and charity. Attendees received a free family portrait, complimentary hair styling by SoftSheen-Carson Celebrity Stylists, complimentary mini-makeovers by professional Maybelline New York Makeup Artists, and free product giveaways. For every attendee of the “Picture of Strength,” SoftSheen-Carson made a donation to the Chicago Youth Centers.
JSD caught up with Ameriie prior to the event. Check out our exclusive interview where Ameriie discusses her upcoming album, the additional “i” in her name, and being newly engaged. Also find out if Ameriie prefers New York to L.A. and if she prefers Bob Marley to Bob Dylan in the JSD Speed Round.

lol @ Brandi “When is she going to flat iron her hair or bump” lol
Love Ameriie’s music. Cant wait for her new project. She sounds really smart which is definitely a good look.
Her hair would look so much better if she did her roots and straightened her hair. I see potential in this new do.
ummmmm I am an Ameriie fan but she is giving off a boring vibe. I listen to her music, but I’ve never paid her any attention otherwise, but having heard this interview she is a major snooze. When is she going to flat iron her hair or bump, it is screaming for life oh my….
