On February 16th, the new and promising fashion label, Brood held its fall 2012 ready-to-wear collection, at Lori Bookstein Fine Art Gallery.
Designer Serkan Sarier, who started his career by assisting Emanuel Ungaro, showed his renewed originality and creativity during NYFW this season. Inspired by English artists Lynn Chadwick and Glenn Brown, the collection displayed Serkan’s fine applications of color, artistic marble print textiles, and the use of metallic gold.
Despite being a presentation, Brood incorporated runway shows that he staged every 15 minutes. Continuing the marble design in the collection Serkan incorporated the same “print” for the background. This idea made a strong impression on all the attendees, including Vera Wang, who came in to the first show that day.
Serkan’s diaphanous dresses in their multi-layered pieces, floated the runway as the models walked. His famously detailed construction mixed with the color pallet of shades of blue with purple white, black, and gold puts urban flair into every piece. The charmingly puffy sleeves, airily peplums, and floral prints expose a delicate and feminine quality through the attire.
Merging the fine art in his design, Serkan’s chic and sport denotative design catches the urban woman’s heart.
