This Fall’s RTW collection from Cynthia Rowley was all about length. All of her pieces; whether it was a pant or a dress, fell below the knee, apropos for the fall and winter.
This collection was subdued in color and style; subtle but powerful.
There were 36 looks altogether and seemed to flow one after another. The prints that were shown were all very symmetrical and geometric.
The fabric choice for this line ranged from silks, velours, and leathers and were all beautifully crafted. The color palette began with soft yellows and neutrals grays which then transitioned to mustard yellows and greens. Eventually, the line sampled its own version of each color of the spectrum.
Most of the ensembles were two pieces but there were also a few jumpsuits and dresses. To me, this line is very ready-to-wear; pieces that a classy urbanite would wear to work or a night out on the town.
There were a few pieces that stood out to me; the first being the mustard yellow/green velour suit. The pant is cropped and the blazer comes down a lot longer than the traditional suit blazer which comes as no surprise to me as Rowley is known for being slightly unconventional in her designs. The next piece that stood out to me was the paprika red jersey jumpsuit; with its drapey long-sleeved top and long billowy pant accented with a yellow belt as the waist, it looks like something you could wear while hosting a party, it’s a very fun piece.
The next piece that I really liked was a black and green print sheer silk jumpsuit; the top long-sleeved and sheer tying at the neck and the pant is long and drapey like a harem pant. Harem pants have been making an appearance in fashion these last few seasons and are definitely a piece you’d see and young and fashionable urbanite wearing.
There was also a draped dress in royal blue; draped very low on the neck and with a long tulip bottom with the slit coming up in the right spot as not to show too much. The blue is complemented with a thin red bed at the waist. Very simple, very clean.
My absolute favorite ensemble is the green satin crepe harem pant with black sequined detailing paired with the sheer white blouse and finished with a black sequined pointed lapel jacket. This is an outfit I would totally wear in the fall, exactly how it is on the runway.
To me, this line was quiet. It wasn’t fussy and was unencumbered and unapologetic. I get a sense of sass but without being outward about it. It’s a very mature line; fashion I’d expect a well-spoken women to wear.
