Governor’s Island was the place to be this weekend for the 8th
French liquor, St. Germain even got in on the fun by showing off their vintage Citroen truck and by having the uber talented and mixology maven Lynnette Marrero create signature specialty cocktails for the festive occasion. We started with classic St. Germain Cocktail which we found to be quite refreshing. It’s an easy breezy type of cocktail that would be the perfect start to your evening.
The St. Germain Cocktail contents includes 2 parts Brut Champagne or Dry Sparkling Wine, 1½ parts St-Germain, and 2 parts Club Soda. To mix it at home all you simply need to do it stir the ingredients in a tall ice-filled Collins glass, mixing completely. Garnish with a lemon twist.
Next up was the perfect summer cocktail, the Sangria Flora
You would mix this liquid dream with 1 bottle of Sauvignon Blanc or Dry White Wine, 1 cup of St-Germain, 2 Fresh Peaches, 5-6 Fresh Strawberries, 6 Fresh Raspberries, and 1 bunch Fresh Grapes. Simply stir the ingredients in a pitcher or carafe. Soak for approximately 15 minutes (or longer if desired). Serve in an ice-filled glass, then telephone your physician and regale him with stories of your exemplary fruit consumption. Serve with St-Germain spoon-straws to enjoy the fruit while drinking. The Sangria Flora is the type of drink you would enjoy like soaking up the sun on a hot summer afternoon. We truly enjoyed this one.
Michael Arenella and His Dreamland Orchestra provided the live soundtrack as partygoers filled the dance floor to showcase their jazz moves.
The rest of the evening included more dancing and performances from the Dreamland Follies, Roddy Caravella and the Canarsie Wobblers, and the Minsky Sisters, all of whom made sure the dance floor stayed packed ‘til dusk! The party continues today! Head over to jazzagelawnparty.com for tickets and future dates. Stay tuned for a fashion recap!
