There is no way to prepare for the CMJ Music Marathon and Film Festival. All you can do is dive in headfirst into the five days of nonstop scheduled events. Tuesday, October 20th was the opening night for the film festival and kick-off for all music showcases and panel discussions. XOJOHN attended the screening for The Perfect Age in Rock ‘N’ Rock starring Jason Ritter & Kevin Zegers, and co-written and directed by Scott Rosenbaum. The film takes an interesting glimpse into the life of a Spyder, a Marilyn Manson type frontman of a fictional 90s rock band, Lost Souls. Not the typical rock concert driven film, but more like Spyder’s confessional to Revolver magazine of the back story to the infamous and never released third Lost Souls album. Spyder vividly recants a road trip www.mindanews.com/buy-levaquin/ along the famous Route 66 from New York to LA with his band and best friend Eric Genson in an attempt to secure songs for a third album. Along the journey, we discover the complexities of Spyder’s friendship with Eric, his battle with substance abuse, but also the roots of Rock ‘N’ Roll through a great soundtrack. The film also stars Peter Fonda with guest appearances from Lauren Holly, Billy Dee Williams, Ruby Dee, and an amazing live performance with Blues musicians who played with such greats as Muddy Waters, Howlin Wolf, and Otis Rush. This film definitely set the tone for what was in store the next few days of the festival.
Our very own Dana Bingham caught up with Jason Ritter for an exclusive interview.
