Last night, Chefs Club Counter opened its doors on the iconic corner of Spring and Lafayette with a special VIP preview of the first “fine-fast” concept brought to life by entrepreneur Stephane De Baets, the Belgian entrepreneur behind the game-changing restaurant group, Chefs Club. Hundreds of hungry foodies packed the posh eatery for a first look and taste. The VIP crowd sipped on fine wines, like Ben Watts’ Watts Up Rosé, while sampling the menu. Speaking of the menu, everything was quite tasty but our favorites were the JG Burger Sliders, Duck Rice, Chicory Pizzas, and the Eggslut Crostini. They are definitely a must-have when you stop by. So who are the rockstar chefs making up this delicious menu? Jean-Georges Vongerichten, George Mendes, Linton Hopkins, Magnus Hansson, and Eggslut’s Alvin Cailan.
Chefs Club Counter is the first-of-its-kind counter -service space which brings famed chefs to the masses through Chefs Club Counter’s menu, curated by Culinary Director Didier Elena, a 20-year Alain Ducasse alumnus. Select dishes are available in a limited quantity for a limited time.
For breakfast, Chefs Club Counter is introducing Los Angeles sensation Alvin Cailan of Eggslut fame. The Eggslut menu will include the SoHo Salmon, made exclusively for Chefs Club Counter, as well as Eggslut classics such as the Fairfax and the Slut. For lunch and dinner, the menu will feature signature dishes from award-winning chefs, such as George Mendes’ Duck Rice and Jean-Georges Vongerichten’s popular JG Burger. The 56-seat space is absolutely wonderful. It was designed by Uruguay-born Fernando Santangelo, a classically trained artist who designed remarkable art installations for night-life impresario Eric Goode, as well as the Lehmann Maupin gallery in New York, the Raleigh Hotel in Miami, Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles, among several other commercial and residential projects nationally. It doesn’t feel like you’re in New York City once you step inside. The decor is immaculate. The space takes its inspiration from New York City’s iconic cafeterias and eateries from the past, with the counter serving as a focal point and the food taking center stage. The airy space’s neutral color palette of buttery cream, terra-cotta and green is paired with curved archways, ceramic subway tiles, stainless steel and polished aluminum.
Chefs Club also has locations in Brooklyn and Aspen. Chefs Club Counter is located at 62 Spring Street, NYC. Starting this Friday, March 31st. They will be open early to late seven days a week. Happy eating!
