With Miami Art Week just a few days away, The Miami Beach EDITION has you covered for festive activities. Ian Schrager’s mid-beach icon is also turning 5 years old and celebrating with a week-long festival of events to mark such an occasion. Events include collaborations with artist Leo Villareal, Ballroom Marfa, ICA Miami, Barbara Gladstone, Whitecube, Museum of Plastic with Lonely Whale, Aperture, Artist Chloe Wise with GANNI, The Face Magazine and photographer Tom Bianchi.
On public display, all week EDITION has committed to two visual experiences for guests and visitors. Firstly, a new, never been seen before, Leo Villareal piece Optical Machine I will be displayed within the lobby. This exhibition is presented by Architectural Digest and Polestar in collaboration with Ballroom Marfa and Pace Gallery. Secondly, the hotel is partnering with Lonely Whale on their own Museum of Plastic pop up exhibition based in the hotel’s vast forum space. Visitors are transported to the reality of our plastic pollution to bring the crisis to the forefront of everyone’s minds this art week.
In keeping with EDITION’s very own Stay Plastic Free initiative to remove all single-use plastics from the hospitality industry, the Museum of Plastic will feature The Ocean Voyage room representing an ocean flourishing with fish, crustaceans, coral and plants. As the space continues, more plastic is introduced, illustrating the reality that the ocean could have more plastic than fish by weight by the year 2050.
Each night Basement Miami, EDITION’s subterranean entertainment space that houses an ice-skating rink, bowling alley, and nightclub, will feature global music DJ talent including Diplo, Idris Elba, Dramian, Unders, Mandrake, Bedouin, Dimitri from Paris, Francois K and Sita Abellan for all late-night dancing needs.
A true cultural leader during this key time for the city; The Miami Beach EDITION continues to be a leading force for serious art content, a thought leader within sustainability and the go-to for music aficionados.
We hope to see you there!
