Perhaps the Mayan’s were wrong. Could it be the end they saw for 2012 as simply the elimination of “Skinny” in menswear? Calvin Klein’s latest collection presented at Milan Fashion Week, denotes the return of loose comfortable cuts in menswear. The collection featuring Klein’s trademark neutral palette and tailored style showed a lack of the form fitting styles of the last few seasons. Male models donned below the knee cropped trousers and casual fit straight legged denim. The skater chic look of the last few years were all but forgotten with the newest looks.
One of our favorite ensembles was this citrus hued tank top and track pant combo. The duo of yellows and green hues add a depth to the fresh fun look.
We also liked the suit looks, in particular this bright white tailored look. The smart tailored jacket over the looser fitting slacks are a welcome shift in menswear.
In addition to the pant looks Klein defied convention by offering a wide legged short pant. Shown here in a combination of soft blues the looks is at once chic and easy.
The collection as a whole harkened the return of looser cuts and broader lines in menswear, a change that couldn’t have come at a better time. The last few seasons have shown pants at their skinniest and shorts at their shortest, 2012 will present man at his best, comfortable yet elegant.
