For the second year in a row, brewmasters descended on the fabulous Mohegan Sun Casino in Connecticut for Brewfest. The sold out two day festival showcased only the very best in beers. For only $25 guests enjoyed four full hours of access to an unlimited supply of brew. With complimentary tasting glass in hand participants wandered the many stalls in search of the next great beverage. The Convention Center And Uncas Ballroom quickly filled up after the VIP hour withe beer lovers vying for a good line position to taste the various wares.
Brewfest
With so many brews (Over 100 to be exact) to choose from it would be impossible to list them all; but there were a few standouts that earned a permanent place in our hearts and tastebuds.
Stella Artois Cidre: This is great option if you’re looking for something gluten free and tasty! The taste of red apple and peach, apricot accents complement the subtle flavor of orange. This was our first option and a stand out for us.
Smirnoff Ice Sparkling Crisp Apple: In keeping with the apple flavors, we sampled the latest from Smirnoff. This new flavor provided the perfect balance of flavor and delivered premium taste.
Shock Top: Honeycrisp Apple Wheat is a brewed hybrid of Belgian wheat beer and sweet cider. This particular beer was a standout and would be perfect for lounging on the beach or at your next BBQ.
Thomas HOOKER: Watermelon Ale is a thirst quencher. We enjoyed this brew as we munched on food at the festival. It went quite well with a few light bites. Watermelon Ale is another gem we would recommend for outdoor summer activities.
Kona Brewing Co.: We sampled the Pipeline Porter which seemed to be quite popular at the table. It’s quite smooth but dark with a roasty aroma. We recommend this for the ultimate beer lover. Next we tried the Fire Rock Pale Ale which is a blend of specialty roasted malts. We enjoyed this one a little more than the Pipeline Porter just because it wasn’t as dark.
Overall, it was fun night to say the least and this is one of many events that take place at Mohegan Sun.
Before heading back to Gotham City aka Manhattan, we stopped by the Goose Island sponsored, BrewBrunch. For $75, beer aficionados and foodies like us munched on a premium buffet style brunch which included all of our favorites like French Toast and Beer & Cheese Risotto. Goose Island, Shock Top, and Absolut provided alcoholic beverages if you were looking for a boozy brunch.
The restaurant did a amazing job with providing us with quality services and making our last day at Mohegan Sun even more enjoyable. We cannot wait to return.
