Not unlike the ancient Chinese who the first craftsman that transformed white porcelain into celebrated works of art, the creative minds of Luxury brand Blanc De Chine use their mastery of fabrics and texture to create a line of wearable art. The Fall 2010 preview was a prime example of Blanc’s unique vision of fashion. Presented in their 5th avenue boutique, to an exclusive group of New York’s fashionistas and socialites, models glided down the runway, to the sounds of Jazz Group the Strayhorn Project playing live from the catwalk. The noise and calamity of Mercedes Benz fashion week was like a bad memory in this subdued atmosphere. The smooth harmonious tones set the soundtrack for relaxed leisurely strolling models whose movements seem to suggest time had no place here, how very zen!
Each piece that made it way to the runway served as a shining example of good taste and sophistication. One of our editors’ favorite pieces was the strapless asymmetrical dress. This stunning number was a cocktail length and no doubt made with a red carpet www.montauk-monster.com/pharmacy Gala in mind. Another stunning piece was a modern take on the traditional Qi Pao. A familiar silhouette, Blanc’s modernized take was dripping with sequins and fit like a second skin. For the Men’s line, our favorite look was a tailored velour jacket, with a piped knit top, elegant and easily wearable.
As always Blanc de Chine presented a stellar collection inspired by China’s Ming dynasty. Though the dynasty only lasted 267 years and has been overthrown for more than 3 centuries it continues to be a source of inspiration. It is obvious that Blanc’s ever-present muse is also a great source of pride as each collection carries with it an elegance that can only be borne of intense love respect for the culture. Much like the era for which its very name was procured Blanc De Chine should look forward to providing the fashion public with quality and sophistication for years to come.
