Menswear kicked open the New York Fashion Week fall ’14 door a day early, and “attempted” to warm the frigid air surrounding NYC. Bespoken led the charge with “Tailored Vandals,” the brand’s take on sexy euro-rocker chic – with an emphasis on chic. The Fayed brothers, Liam and Sammy, have developed a new line that resembles darkness of a business-focused glam rocker. Someone tell Jack White of the band, The White Stripes, to listen up and pay attention.
Impressive tailoring highlighted the collection, but the best moments were found in the embellishments – pendants that were textured to mimic drum-tuning keys and handgun grips, as well as razor-blade sharp stickpins tucked into lean lapels.
Standout looks Tailored suit in black and charcoal, Quilted pant and jacket in navy, and every pair of pants shown this season. I’ve never seen so much structure in my life outside of a corporate office, and I love it.
As a peak into what’s to possibly come – two female models were included in the collection, outfitted in what could have easily been their boyfriend’s clothes. The trend of women in men’s clothes has been done but if Bespoken stepped into the market, the brand can easily carve out a niche in the womenswear category.
