BESPOKEN Fall/Winter 2011: I want to BeSpoken…

I have been hearing about Bespoken for a while, so when my editor said whatever happens do not miss this show, I had a sudden jolt of excitement.

As I walked into the room at Pier 59, I was overcome by a magnetism pulling me closer so I could confirm that I wasn’t in a dream. I decided at that instant that I needed everything off those models and in my closet. At least that was the song playing in my mind as I inspected the Bespoken Fall/Winter 2011 Collection.

Designed and produced in England, it was refreshing to witness how the overall quality of Bespoken’s collection freed itself from the populist hype of the other brands that showed at Lincoln Center this season. It stood apart in its own unsullied way of innovating men’s confidence worldwide. The materials boasted designs made of tweed, gingham, plaid, and corduroy all woven together to create a modernist spin on the gentleman.

The Grey Harris Tweed Topcoat, the Flange Charcoal Harris Tweed Blazer, Navy Millerian Peacoat and Reversible Jacket, the 3-Piece Blue/Red Plaid Suit, and the Chunky Knit Oatmeal Cardigan were just a few of the outstanding pieces. They were all accompanied by Burt Boots, Duster Boots and Derby Shoes of different colors to complete each outfit and I must give my kudos to Julie Ragolia for heightening the designer’s vision with her styling prowess.

Congratulations Bespoken, you made magic again. Viewing each outfit was akin to falling in love over and over, and it didn’t stop. There was not one item I disliked. Special mention must be made of the Grey Corduroy Three on Three Blazer. I would like to have dinner in it tonight. However, I would like to walk out with my Valentine’s date in the Light Grey Shawl Collar Blazer and Trouser, with the light grey polka dot shirt ensemble.
