Vogue’s “Magic fingers” certainly said it right. The products from Bande Des Quatres are astonishing and magical. At the Bowery Hotel Terrace in Downtown NY, Bande Des Quatres’s charismatic duo—Montreal native talented designer Erin Wahed, and her collaborator and mother Janis Kerman—introduced their 2nd collection, Collection II Architecture.
Welcoming guests with an original video, they immediately drew us to the stupendous world of Bande Des Quatres.
On stage, models styled with avant-garde dresses, they were steadily standing as if they were precisely designed architectures. Lying on their hands were this season’s Bande Des Quatres hand-made rings and bracelets, made of materials such as sterling silver, oxidized sterling silver, 18kt yellow and palladium white gold and precious gemstones. This collection is the follow-up to their successful Bauhaus inspired 1st collection.
Spot lighting the world-renowned architects (you can see their influence by the name of each pieces), the presentation of Collection II Architecture represented the conversation between historical and contemporary artists.
The mysteriously elegant, floating objects were marvelously balanced in this 3-dimensional world. Erin’s meticulously calculated design gives this amusing optical illusion, and the legendary old school craftsmanship polishes these pieces of art.
Our urge, actually almost need, to get these epic jewelries was accelerated as we got to know more about Bande Des Quatres.
Erin’s family plays an essential role in her artwork. When we asked what her inspiration to make the unique knuckle rings was, she said, it started with her father. He once wore the circular piece of a plastic bottle, which you can find around the mouth of the bottles, as a ring on his fingers. When her mother Janis saw it, she said, “I can’t allow you to do it. I am a jeweler!” (She has been a jeweler since 1975) Soon after that, Janis made him a unique knuckle ring made of gold. Innovative genes definitely run in the family.
The Bande Des Qutres’s collection doesn’t consist of seasonable items. Being outside of the trend, this fine craft will never stop appealing to you. Additionally, you can personalize your favorite pieces through their studio. They customize the items upon your request. (Visit their website for more details)
