When
When I think of B.o.B aka Bobby Ray, Bo Jackson comes to mind. Bo Jackson was the first all-star athlete in two pro sports, football and baseball, at the same time. In 1989, Nike capitalized on it with the “Bo Knows” campaign. So how does Bo Jackson and B.O.B. relate? B.o.B has mastered the art of singing and rapping and brought the two together in a true art form. Many rappers have attempted to cross over to singing with the aid of autotune, but B.o.B doesn’t need anything extra. He is naturally soulful. He has pulled elements of many musical genres, such as Rap, R&B, and Alternative Rock, to create B.o.B. There is no question he is an all-star. He has made a big impression in the hip hop world with tunes like Put Me On, In da Sky, and Haterz Everywhere. The platinum single, Nuthin’ On You, has made everyone take notice.
Seeing B.o.B perform reminded me why I love attending concerts. Seeing an artist unplugged and live, to me, proves a real artist from a studio artist. Like Lauryn Hill once sang “music is suppose to inpsire”, and I’m indeed inspired by B.o.B.’s musical talent and passion. He brings me back to the time hip hop was young and fresh. B.o.B definitely made me a fan. I’m eagerly awaiting the release of his debut album Adventures of Bobby Ray, due out on April 27th.
