Medusa Is Blooming: The non-descript building on West 35th Street is transformed into a soothing Oceanic paradise on the inside. Upon entering the second floor of the building you must check in with hosts and hostess dressed head to toe in black. The lines moniker Boudoir D’huitres

Shrimpton Couture: Luxury Vintage, Reconstructed Pieces & Couture

image-cherie-federauEvery artist has a special something as their focus. A muse for lack of better words. Da Vinci had the Mona Lisa. Carrie (SATC) had the next big shoe from Christian Louboutin to Jimmy Choo. I am no different. My obsession is Vintage clothes. So you can imagine the sense of euphoria that I felt when I stumbled across an awesome group of vintage clothiers on the social networking site twitter. One such clothier happened to become a follower of mine. Posting under the name @ShrimptonCoutur, this clothier introduced me to a different vintage world. Instantly I fell in love with the pictures that she began to post from her website. After viewing her post, I got in touch with Cherie of Shrimpton Couture to do an interview. Cherie, who’s based out of Rockwood, Canada, is a vintage clothing enthusiast and dealer. Although clothing from the 80’s can technically be considered vintage, her deals with vintage pieces from the 1930’s to 1970’s. However she doesn’t discriminate against any designer or era. Proving that she’s not stuck on what classifies as vintage, you can occasionally see a “collectible” (a piece that’s classic and timeless) piece from recent years.

Rocawear Celebrates the Diamond Anniversary

When you think of Jay-Z what actually comes to mind? Beyonce? Roc Nation? In 1996, Reasonable Doubt probably came to mind or maybe in 1999, Rocawear. Even though that seems like such a long time ago, those were two mild stones in the saga of Jay-Z. Fast forward to 2009, which proves to be a stellar year for the  Brooklyn born Shawn Corey Carter.

The world’s taken notice that consumers need to be stimulated in order to revive the economy. With Vogue gathering all of fashion super powers, deciding to launch Fashion’s Night Out and everyone that is anyone coming into town for Fashion Week, we’re wondering just one question: How can New York follow up such big events to massage the consumers shopping woes?
